Ran Singh Biography
Early Life
Born and raised in Dirba Sangrur in Punjab, Ran Singh was exposed to the game of kabaddi from quite a young age. He started playing under-14 kabaddi for his school team.
He also played a lot of kabaddi circle in Punjab. Kabaddi circle is a tougher version of kabaddi and very popular in Punjab. As it is played in the mud, it requires more skill.
Pro Kabaddi League
Like many other talented players, the Pro Kabaddi League was indeed the start of Ran Singh’s career.
Ran Singh started his career with Jaipur Pink Panthers as a defender. In the very first season, the team went on to lift the league trophy, which was an extremely special moment for Ran. He was with the team for 4 years.

In the fifth season, he was signed on by the Bengal Warriors team. He was signed for a sum of INR 43 lakh. The very first season with the team was very successful for him as he scored 64 points in 23 matches.
The comradery in the team was also very crucial for Ran’s success. All the players played like one cohesive unit. Having his best friend Maninder Singh in the team was added advantage for Ran Singh. He was also very close to other players like Surjeet and Jang Kun Lee.
Throughout the last few years, Ran has established himself as one of the best players in the Pro Kabaddi League. In the seventh season, he was picked up by the Tamil Thalaivas team. The team paid a staggering INR 55 lakh for the talented youngster.

Ran Singh is a talented hand raider. His signature move is the block. He is one of the most dependable players in the league and has slowly shaped his skills as an all-rounder.

Personal Life: Ran Singh
Not much is known about Ran Singh’s personal life. He had a humble life growing up in Punjab. He is married and blessed with a son.
No journey can be a smooth sailing. Every athlete has to face his share of ups and downs. For most athletes, the biggest fear is an injury. Ran has had his share of challenges. He spoke about it in an interview with the PKL.
“Making a career in kabaddi is not as tough now as it used to be, but players need to be wary of small injuries as they can impact one’s performance on the mat. Another problem for me was my weight because of which I needed to give extra focus to my fitness in order to lose weight.”
Unknown Facts about Ran Singh
- In terms of tackle points, Ran Singh has been one of the top ten defenders in the Pro Kabaddi League.
- In season 3 of the PKL, he scored 21 tackle points and became the most successful defender for Jaipur Pink Panthers.
- Ran Singh did his schooling in Hemkunt Convent School in Dirba, Punjab.
- He completed his graduation from Punjab Technical University.
- Fellow Punjab kabaddi player, Maninder Singh is Ran’s best friend. Both started their careers together and were part of the Jaipur Pink Panthers team in the debut season of the Pro Kabaddi League. In fact, two of them have similar tattoos on their arms as well. Ran Singh got it first in Canada, and Maninder loved it so much that he got a similar one in Punjab. Now that’s what we call a bond for life!
- When he isn’t participating in any league or off for any tournament, Ran prefers spending time at his village in Punjab and plays kabaddi with local boys.
